What an insane couple of weeks. I was having some issues with the company that hosts my URL address for some odd reasons, and was trying to sort all of that out with WordPress (I should have just let them host everything but I had to go and make it all complicated and now I have to switch it over as soon as I get some extra money to prevent hassle in October when my domain expires). THEN WordPress wouldn’t let me post to my personal blog, but it would let me post to Nerdfighters – Blogstyle which was weird. When I would login to WordPress it wouldn’t show my site but that was all apart of the other issues I was having & everything is fine & dandy now.
Last Sunday, my Blackberry died. It completely stopped working for no reason and Sprint won’t do anything about it because it’s out of warranty so I ordered a new phone for $150 rather than getting a replacement one through Sprint that’s refurbished for $120. It should be here in the next few days. Then on Thursday, I went to use my nook while I was in school and it decided to not work. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! *sigh* Anyway, this was just an update as to where I am, there will be another post right after this with an update as to what new things are going on with my 101 because I’ve made some progress!
Always,
Sarah
I’ve gotten a little behind in the last week & I apologize for that, hopefully Wednesday I can catch up. I came down with a nasty cold which pretty much made me want to do nothing in the last week to say the least. That and classes started on Tuesday for me which made me want to again, not do anything. *Hopefully* this week I can get back on track and caught up with everything!
026. Read the New Testament
Growing up a Christian, I read the Bible here and there to learn various verses or to read stories for Sunday school lessons, or to follow along during church service. I read the Bible straight through once, when I was in my early teens. For this list, I am going to read the Tanakh (the Hebrew Bible) instead of the Old Testament and then the Christian New Testament. I have found a website/Blackberry application which will allow me to track my progress and give me specific passages to read each day. The current timeline is set for one year but I am hoping that it will not take me that long to finish. Feel free to follow my progress by visiting my page: click here Then, each week, I will make a post with what I have read for that week (adding to it daily, or every few days), along with any specific lessons or verses which are important to me.

Day 1 [January 4, 2010]: Matthew 1 & 2
Matthew 2:22-23
22But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, 23and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: “He will be called a Nazarene.”
Day 2 [January 5, 2010]: Matthew 3 & 4
Matthew 3:2
Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.
Matthew 4:10
You must worship the LORD your God, serve only him.
Day 3 [January 6, 2010]: Matthew 5 & 6
Matthew 5:3-10 (The Beatitudes)
3“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:21-22
21 You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ 22 But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.
Matthew 5:31-32
31 You have heard the law that says, ‘A man can divorce his wife by merely giving her a written notice of divorce.’ 32 But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman also commits adultery.
Matthew 6:34
So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
Day 4 [January 7, 2010]: Matthew 7-9
Matthew 7:7-8
7 Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matthew 7:12
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.
Day 5 [January 8, 2010]: Matthew 10 & 11
No verses.
Day 6 [January 9, 2010]: Matthew 12-14
No verses.
Day 7 [January 10, 2010]: Matthew 15-17
No verses.
The majority of these are going to be novels, but some may not be novels in the traditional sense. Some of them may just be books, which is why I titled it “50 Books / 1 Year”. This list will contain more than 50 books when I am done and less than 50 until then so bear with me. If you would like to suggest books to read, feel free to leave comments or email me. Find me on Goodreads.

017. Maintain a GPA of 3.0 as an undergrad
029. Make dean’s list at least once at YSU (completed: Fall 2009 semester)
Both of these tasks go hand and hand so that’s why they’re listed together. This semester, I wound up with a 3.6 semester GPA which both made me make dean’s list and also pushed my overall GPA up to 3.0 which is great! I just have to keep it there now.

032. Send Christmas cards to everyone I can think of (completed: Christmas 2009)
I sent Christmas gifts to like EVERYONE I could possibly think of this year. I sent them to all of my friends, family members who live elsewhere, and even YouTube/DFTBA celebs (Shane Dawson, Philip DeFranco, Alan Lastufka, and Hank Green). If you want one next year, or birthday cards, contact meat the email address in the sidebar.
045. Participate in Project for Awesome twice
You can watch my 2009 P4A video: here

I have so far, discovered three: (1) The Oceanic Six (2) Alan Lastufka and (3) ALLCAPS
098. Backup pictures to DVD (completed: December 2009)
099. Don’t get frustrated with stupidity for one day (completed: 12/23/2009)
This was an amazing day! I worked Christmas Eve Eve and did not get frustrated with anyone ONCE. It was probably a once in a lifetime thing that will never happen again, but hey! it allows me to cross it off my 101 list, and that’s all that matters!
I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
023. Read 50 novels in one year

The book I chose to read for my first novel is by Maureen Johnson and it is called “13 Little Blue Envelopes“. It is about a girl, Ginny, who discovers her runaway aunt leaves her thirteen blue envelopes outlining a trip around Europe. Each envelope contains a task that Ginny must complete fully before she can open the next envelope. I am only on envelope #4 and I love this book so far! I encourage all of you to read it as well if you’re a fan of young adult fiction.
If you’re not familiar with Maureen Johnson, she is an amazing Young Adult author who has written several novels for young adults, among other things such as being crowed “Most Interesting Twitter User to Follow” by Mashable in their Open Web Awards and also writing the script for the Harry Potter Half-Blood Prince video game! You can find her by clicking her name above & on twitter.
I’m so excited to have won the Good Will Award from the Day Zero List Makers Ning for December 2009. The award goes “to the member with the most volunteer and kindhearted goals”. I have always been a person who wants to help others and would rather someone else be helped than help myself so I am so proud to have won this.
To those of you that are traveling to my page for the first time from my Ning page, welcome, and I apologize for the lack of updates as of late, Christmas is so busy for me at work. I will be posting updates regularly beginning next week or the week after New Years.
I hope you all have a splendid holiday and be safe!
Love Always,
Sarah
I feel like a complete failure because I told myself I was going to be dedicated to this site and this list and here I am slacking off like no body’s business. School is just about done though so I should be able to knock a few of these out of the water real soon. Here’s some of the stuff I’ve been up to in the meantime:
014. Meditate once a week -
I found this really awesome website http://www.learningmeditation.com/ which had a bunch of meditation techniques and various tracks you can download in order to help you meditate. I downloaded a bunch and then put the ones I really like on a CD. I turn everything off in my room, shut the door, and light a few candles. Instead of sitting on my bed, I throw a pillow down on the floor and sit and listen to whichever track. You just have to let everything out and relax and it will make you feel amazing. I think everyone should try it, especially on a day you’re really stressed out.
032. Send Christmas card to everyone I know -
Working on this one. I decided to go with Christmas postcards this year to save a little on postage. So far I have 40 filled out to send. If you’d like to be added to my list simply send your mailing address to contact@theserrac.com
050. Postcrossing -
This is my new favourite hobby. If only it didn’t cost $.98 to sent postcards overseas, I would send 5 everyday. Recently I sent out postcards to: Finland, Russia, Slovakia, & Maryland — This brings my current total up to eight. I still have two that are traveling as well.
072. Take 200 DailyBooth pictures
I have been taking a few DailyBooth pictures lately, and I realized I don’t have a link to that on here so you’re more than welcome to follow me on DailyBooth, username is serrac
074. Watch 26 Movies That I’ve Never Seen
I’ve been posting these as I see them. Currently at 9/26. The master list can be found around here somewhere.
085. Rekindle an Old Friendship
Thank you Facebook.
There’s a short update of things I have done, like I said, I’ll hopefully be working on a lot more here soon, and will definitely be posting more as well. I also got a FormSpring account, username serrac, so go ask me some questions.
And, if you’re interested, we’re having a giveaway on the blog I post at called Nerdfighters – Blogstyle, you can find that post: here. I will also be having a New Years Giveaway on the site you’re at right now (my site) that is going to start on January 1 so watch out for that!
I have been so engulfed in things that are going on in real life that I have been neglecting my online life more than anyone ever should. Also, I’ve fallen behind on my 101 list and updating that. It’s almost the end of the semester as school so work has been piling up more and more and assignments need done and of course I am procrastinating until the last day to get those done. I’m terrible, I know. Nevertheless I am going to be posting another giveaway sometime next week and some 101 posts so be on the look out for that!
Until next time!
